The British firm, which also makes Cillit Bang cleaners and Finish dishwasher tablets, has been concentrating on high-margin health and hygiene products to take advantage of ageing Western populations and rising incomes in emerging markets.

Last year, for example, it bought U.S. group Schiff Nutrition, taking it into the $30 billion vitamins and supplements market.

“Our focus on health and hygiene power brands is working, if you look at our improved growth rates over the past 18 months they all demonstrate that we are making the right strategic choices,” Chief Executive Rakesh Kapoor told Reuters.

First-half sales rose 6 percent at constant exchange rates to 5 billion pounds ($7.7 billion), in line with forecasts, driven by a strong performance in key emerging markets like Brazil, India and China. Adjusted earnings rose 7 percent to 118.3 pence a share.

Sales in its health division, which makes 27 percent of core revenue, led the way, growing 31 percent thanks to a severe flu season in the United States and a strong performance from brands like Nurofen painkillers in a number of markets.

Revenue from hygiene products rose 6 percent, while home-related products were up 1 percent.

Reckitt said it was confident of achieving full-year group revenue growth at the upper end of a 5 to 6 percent range and raised its interim dividend by 7 percent to 60 pence per share.

“Reckitt’s growth prospects are remaining good and it is one of the few staples in Europe where growth expectations could surprise further on the positive side,” Deutsche Bank analyst Harold Thompson said in a note.

Kapoor, who took over from long-term CEO Bart Becht in 2011, said acquisitions would continue to play a role in strengthening the business in areas like China and Latin America, and in complementing its hygiene and health portfolio. He declined to say if any deals were imminent.

The company also outlined a range of new products for the second half of the year, including a new Vanish stain remover soap bar for emerging markets and Durex Embrace,Online supplies a large range of double sided tape. two so-called “pleasure gels” that provide a warming and tingling feeling.

Reckitt added it remained upbeat about demand for its heroin addiction drug Suboxone, despite competition from cheaper versions in tablet form.

Shares in the company were hit this month when U.S. healthcare provider CVS CareMark dropped the dissolvable film version of Suboxone from its list of covered medicines in favour of cheaper tablets.

Some analysts fear Suboxone’s profit could fall sharply if other healthcare providers follow suit.

Reckitt, which stopped selling the tablet version of the drug in the United States in March, said the film version’s clinical benefits remained attractive to many healthcare providers, adding it had maintained its total share of prescriptions,All the latest Releasing film Products in small size and in resumable. which continued to increase at low double digit percentage rates in the United States.

“We do not expect to maintain in full the current market share of the film but we unquestionably have a very valuable product with very good IP protection that is going to be around and robust for a very long time,” Chief Financial Officer Adrian Hennah said.

Empire Level is the inventor of the modern level

Empire Level is working aggressively to stop counterfeiting of its iconic torpedo level, aiming to block imported knock-offs at the U.S. border and pushing for removal of the counterfeit products from store shelves to ensure they do not end up in the hands of consumers. Companies found violating Empire Level’s intellectual property rights are being required to pull the look-alike products,Visit us to find a company offering a flexible Protective film Products. make compensatory payments to Empire Level and, in some cases, destroy existing counterfeit stock.

Empire manufactures its iconic torpedo level at its headquarters in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and has sold millions to construction professionals and Do-It-Yourselfers. The counterfeits originate in China. The family-owned company has issued dozens of cease-and-desist letters to Chinese suppliers, as well as U.S. distributors and retailers dealing in the counterfeits. In recent months, tens of thousands of the knock-off units have been taken off the market, with related advertisements stopped. Empire Level has launched more than 100 enforcement efforts – including more than one with major retailers – resulting in numerous quick settlements.

“Empire Level was built on innovation and hard work by many people,Online supplies a large range of double sided tape. starting with my great-great-grandfather when he came to America for a better life, and I’m determined to protect the company from any threats to those American ideals,” said Jenni Becker, president of Empire Level. “This counterfeit activity is a direct threat to our economy and American jobs,My way of applying kapton tape to Glass. including the jobs of our 200 employees.”

Becker continued, “Our levels are made for maximum accuracy and extreme durability. It hurts our business and our brand when people purchase counterfeit products that don’t perform to our standards. We know some consumers have been deceived by ads for these junk counterfeits and it absolutely needs to stop.”

Counterfeiting is a huge issue for the American economy, stocks a huge selection of aluminum foil tape. as evidenced by the seizure of $1.26 billion in counterfeit goods at U.S. borders in 2012 alone. According to the U.S. Department of Customs and Border Protection,Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape, China remains the world leader in production of counterfeit merchandise, with 72% of all fake goods originating from that country. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development reports that criminal networks and organized crime negatively affect nearly every product category, stealing market share and undermining innovation.

Empire Level is the inventor of the modern level, and the leading designer and manufacturer of levels, squares, layout tools and caution tape in the United States. Genuine Empire Level products are sturdy, precision-built tools. While the knock-offs superficially resemble the best-selling Empire torpedo level, their performance is sub-standard, with questionable accuracy and extremely limited durability.

Becker advised, “If it’s coming from China, it’s not our torpedo level. That’s the first thing retailers need to know. Plus, retailers should always follow best practices of supply chain management and check out track records of suppliers that offer products at suspiciously low prices.” Empire Level has strong relationships with its distributors and retailers in the 50 countries where its products are sold.

“We strongly encourage all retailers, as well as our fellow manufacturers, to do what we’re doing and fight back to discourage unscrupulous suppliers and sellers – both foreign and domestic,” advised Becker. “We especially want our story to serve as an example for other proud manufacturers of Made in U.S.A. products. Imported counterfeits are a problem, but we’re not defenseless. We can fight back intelligently and win.”

Consumer Reports suggests that American consumers also can do their part to spot and avoid phony products by avoiding suspiciously cheap products, doing an online search before they buy to find out if the company or the product may be linked to counterfeiting, and checking out all retailers – both online and traditional – with the Better Business Bureau.

Consumers can easily spot counterfeits of Empire Level’s iconic torpedo level by checking for Chinese origin. Another simple identifier is screws, visible on one side of most counterfeit units but not seen in the genuine Empire Level product. Also, when even lightly twisted by hand, most counterfeit units immediately squeak, crack or bend as they give way due to substandard construction; the genuine Empire Level product is comparatively sturdy.

Empire Level is a well-known innovator in the tool industry with a rich legacy of inventions throughout the years, currently holding more than 30 active patents. Becker, who took the helm in 2003, is the company’s fifth generation leader and first female president. Twenty of the company’s current patents have been granted during Becker’s tenure.

Many states provide income tax credits

Conservation and environmental groups openly advocate the conservation easements as the answer to saving farm land, as do state departments of agriculture, farm bureaus, and the federal government. A full court press is on to lock in millions of acres of private property under the blazing headline “Save the Family Farm.”

There’s no question that the family farm is under assault. Taxes, international trade agreements, inflation, and government regulations are eating away at the ability to keep the farm operating. I’ve never met a farmer who wanted to give up and stop working the land that perhaps his ancestors first acquired. In most cases it’s agony for a farmer to decide to sell his property. On the other hand, the land is his main asset. To provide a good life for the family, selling the land, many times to developers is necessary for survival.

However, there is now a much more lethal threat facing small farmers, and the outrageous fact is,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. this threat is being disguised as a way to help them. The real threat is the green solution – “conservation easements.” And farmers are falling into its trap across the country.

Conservation easements are promoted by land trusts and environmental groups. Tax breaks are promoted. Even cash is offered those farmers willing to sell their development rights,Metal Repair Aluminum foil tape Products is also excellent for metal. under the argument that this will drive away the temptation to sell the land to nasty developers, thus keeping it farm land The clever slogan, “farm land lost is farm land lost forever” helps sell the case for easements.

The promoters of such ideas are very good with the sales pitch. If it were politically correct to do so, one could actually hear “God Bless America” playing in the background as the promises to save the family farm roll off the pitchman’s tongue.

Say proponents, “A conservation easement is a voluntary perpetual agreement that restricts non- agricultural uses such as mining and large scale residential and commercial development.” They boldly promote the easements by promising that “the landowner continues to own, live on and use the land.” They even promise that the land can be passed down to heirs, along with generous tax credits. What’s not to like? Desperate farmers are flocking to the pitchman’s wagon to buy his life-saving potion.

Of course, as another famous pitchman, P.T Barnum, once said, “there’s a sucker born every minute.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.” Farmers beware the slick talker who has the answers to your woes. His answers may well be your demise – and your farm’s. It’s wise to read the fine print of a conservation easement agreement. Here are some facts.

In a typical conservation easement, a private Land Trust organization purchases some or all of the “bundle” of a property owners rights. The bundle includes development rights for the property; the ability to overrule the owner’s choice of how to use the property, including adding more buildings or renovating or rebuilding existing buildings; in the case of farmers, it may include decisions on which fields to use for planting , or even which crops to grow and the technique to be used. All of these things come under the command of the easement. And all of it may become the decision of the Land Trust, because once the conservation easement agreement is signed the owner’s rights are legally subservient to his new partner, the Trust.

True, in exchange, the property owner receives charitable deductions on federal taxes based on the difference between the values of the land before and after granting the easement. The property owner receives relief from federal estate or inheritance taxes. Many states provide income tax credits and property tax relief. And the owner receives a payment for his development rights.

In the beginning it all sounds good.Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. Money in the pocket; the farm safe from development; and the ability to practice the beloved tradition of farming. Well, maybe.

This is especially effective when trying to dislodge a land owner who has refused to sell his land to the government or sign a conservation easement. The Nature Conservancy is a master at this trick, creating millions of dollars of income for the group. Its favorite practice is to tell the land owner that the government intends to take the land, but if they sell to the Conservancy then it will guarantee that the land will stay in private hands. But of course, since the government intends to take the land it is now worth much less. So they get the landowner to sell at a reduced rate. Then the Conservancy calls the government agency to tell them the good news that they have the land. And the agency pays the Conservancy full market value. They call that “Capitalism with a heart!!”

Because ownership rights are muddled between taxes, restrictions and best practices requirements, it can be difficult to find a buyer willing to pay a fair market price for the land. In a sense, once the easement is signed, ervation Easement deeds use broad language that expands the trust’s control but very specific language that limits the landowner’s rights.

One possible solution is to perform processing on data

Memory chip maker Micron is pushing flash solid state drives (SSDs) as the technology of choice for enterprise storage, yet does not expect magnetic media to go away anytime soon. The firm is also looking to new technologies such as 3D Nand flash in order to meet the density challenges of the future.

Micron, which last week started sampling its first 16nm flash devices, said there is growing demand for SSDs across all storage segments, whether enterprise or consumer, but does not see them replacing hard drives anytime soon.

Glen Hawk, Micron's vice president of Nand Solutions, told V3 that he believes there will always be a place for hard drives in the industry, just like there is still a legitimate need for tape storage.

"I think hard drives are certainly going to be around for a long time for the same reason. For certain storage applications, hard drives are going to remain the lower cost option," he said.

This may sound strange for a manufacturer of flash memory, but the storage industry is currently trying to work out where and how is the best way to use the high-speed memory technology most effectively.Metal Repair Aluminum foil tape Products is also excellent for metal.

"As people start to get really familiar with flash, the usage models are changing very quickly and we're trying to react quickly to figure out how to bring new products to market to deal with that," Hawk said.My way of applying kapton tape to Glass.

This has led to an array of different solutions, with some enterprise vendors using a small amount of costly flash to cache lower-speed hard disks, while others are adopting all-flash arrays as storage Tier 1, or even using flash for a new Tier 0.Matco Packaging Llc suppliers of BOPP tape,

"They've not necessarily gone in and simply displaced all their hard drives, they've actually created a new tier in that hierarchy of memory, that's where flash has traditionally been inserted, but we believe it will start working closer and closer to the processor, and that's going to require new bus connections," Hawk said.

He pointed to some of the enterprise flash products that already use a direct PCI Express connection to the host system, as the Sata and SAS interfaces inherited from spinning hard drives are too much of a bottleneck.

But as new process technologies enable more and more bits to be packed into a memory chip, even the connections to the memory chip are becoming a problem, according to Hawk.

"One of the problems that we have is that while we're incredibly good at shrinking the memory cell size, one of the limitations we're running into now is that there is an I/O bottleneck within the chip. We're fundamentally limited by having just a few I/O pins to pass all this data through," he said.

One possible solution is to perform processing on data inside the memory chip itself, Hawk said, rather than shuffling it backwards and forwards between memory and processor.

"Why are we wasting energy moving that data out of the chip, just so a microprocessor can go operate on it,Uline stocks a wide selection of Double sided tape Products. so why can't you do some of the processing inside of that memory? I do think that in the next few years, you will start to see some rudimentary levels of processing within the memory," he said.

However, he conceded that this is something that is only likely to develop over the long term, as it would need a radical change in computer architectures.

In the near term, the major "next revolution" for Nand flash will be 3D Nand, whereby the memory cells on a chip are stacked on top of each other vertically instead of spread out in a 2D grid.

Micron is just one company that is investigating this approach, which is needed because the gates that make up each memory chip have now shrunk to the point where they are approaching fundamental physical limits, according to Hawk.

"We're now dealing with a situation where the difference between states is in the order of 10 or 20 electrons, and they are very poorly behaved in small numbers, so we're reaching fundamental limits, but we can keep going for another couple of generations with the current high-k metal gate technology," he explained.

With the ability to expand into the third dimension,Scotch No base material double sided tape Products with Dispenser you need for home office or business. gates can be made larger while increasing density for a given size of chip.

"So you can increase the reliability, you can increase the performance, and it gives us an excellent path for continued scaling, because 3D Nand sort of resets the clock. It's a big costly transition to do this, but it will happen," Hawk said.

The diversification of music television channels

THE implementation of a tax designed to make an extra 86m ($114m) for the French government would not normally be a newsworthy story. But when a French government committee proposed a 1% tax on all devices that could connect to the internet, it became big news. The Lescure Report, which made the proposal, wants the proceeds of the tax to protect and nurture “French cultural products”—things like music and film. And the move indicates the level of fear felt in the French establishment that its cultural patrimony is being killed by a global invasion.

But should governments be worried that their national culture is being destroyed by globalisation? A recent paper by Fernando Ferreira and Joel Waldfogel focuses on the music industry, looking at chart entries from 22 countries from 1960 to 2007. These countries correspond to around 98% of the $34 billion revenue in recorded music over the last decade.Worldwide leader in PET protective film Products and Coated Papers. And the evidence suggests that globalisation is not nearly as dominant as some might think.

When the Beatles were taking off, the prospects for “domestic music”—that is, music produced and consumed in the same country—looked bleak. From the 1960s to the 1980s, the proportion of domestic music fell sharply: Italians were listening to relatively less Italian music and relatively more American music. By 1985, consumers spent as much time listening to foreign bands as they did domestic groups. But from the low point of the mid-1980s the picture changed. We have now reached a level of domestic consumption not seen for 50 years, with 70% of listening time devoted to domestic tunes. People increasingly seem to prefer domestic repertoire to foreign fare.

Why is this? Improved communication networks make a big—and counterintuitive—difference. People might assume that the internet would make consumers’ music choices more global. But the spread of the internet has actually enabled the dissemination of local music within countries more than it has increased the availability and consumption of foreign music. Mark Ellen, a music journalist who co-presented Live Aid in 1985, is not surprised. “Part of the folklore of pop music is the magical soap opera of the cast involved. You’re more likely to find that with local bands in ascent whose story you can follow first-hand than with established acts the rest of the world is watching,” he says.

The diversification of music television channels may also be important. From its inception in 1981 until 1987, there was only one MTV channel. MTV generally played American and British music, even to consumers in other countries.Although Double sided nonwoven tape Products carriers are generally quite thin, But beginning with the launch of MTV Europe in 1987, it became easier for people around the world to stumble upon music from their own country. MTV has increasingly customised programming to particular countries. Flying in the face of the prejudices of any self-respecting music snob, the authors argue that MTV is a “force promoting local as well as global artists”.

Some will still argue that certain countries monopolise the global music industry.Buy Promotional Anti-scratching PET protective film Products at Phones. Up until the 1990s, British music had over 40% of the global import market. American music has 40% today. But the authors argue that these statistics do not necessarily show such Anglo-American authority over the global music market. You Can Buy Various Improved PE protective film Products Products. After all, Britain and America are huge economies. When normalising by GDP share, the picture does not seem nearly so skewed. America’s contribution is almost always below its GDP share of the 22-country sample, whereas in the early 1990s Sweden’s ratio reached seven times its GDP share.

Francois Hollande might still argue that he is justified in offering more help to French culture. By the mid-1990s, only one in ten records bought in France was by a French artist. However, in recent years this ratio has increased. The French government will be quick to take credit—in particular for a 1996 law which required 40% of radio music to be French. State intervention does appear to make a difference. Whether or not this is desirable is another question.

I think the authors argue too strongly against the well-worn idea that the global music market is dominated by the USA. True, America may be less dominant than expected—in their 22-country sample. But it does command around 40% of the world music market. Nonetheless, the article is an important reminder that lazy assumptions about globalisation are frequently misleading.

With temperatures soaring into the mid-30s across Japan, the competition for energy-saving goods is heating up as the general public searches for ways to cool down.

The central government's electricity-conservation campaign got into full swing at the start of July, and with the mercury rising, sales competition for everything from “Cool Biz” clothing, fans and bamboo screens to increase the cooling effects of air conditioners is under way.

With the traditional fundoshi often made of airy linen fabrics and not having an elastic band, many people purchase them for wearing at bedtime.

The store sold about 300 fundoshi in June, more than a 30-fold jump over the same month in 2012, a Kintetsu official said.

“Amid widespread awareness of energy conservation, young people and women are seeking not only cool, but stylish products,” a sales official in charge of the section said.

Takashimaya department store’s Osaka outlet in Chuo Ward added short-sleeved shirts with linen fabric and a style without a top button, which led to twice as many sales of shirts over last year.

Energy-saving goods are flying off store shelves, too.

Tokyu Hand’s Shinsaibashi outlet in Chuo Ward said that heat-shielding window film, which can increase an air conditioner’s effectiveness, is selling well. The demand surged after the Great East Japan Earthquake in March 2011, and in May last year, sales more than tripled year on year.

In addition to the farmland in Kumarakom

Actor Mammootty surprised everyone recently when he took up a farmer's role in real life. He joined farmers in ploughing his own land in Kumarakom, much to the delight of his fans. Though the superstar has a tech savvy image,This Tissue Double sided tissue tape Products is so cool. not many knew that green streak in him, let alone about his own farm. Apparently, Mammootty is just one of the many celebs in Malayalam cinema with an avid interest in paddy and vegetable farming. Actors Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Kunchacko Boban, and directors Sathyan Anthikad and Fazil all share a passion for farming.

"The secret behind Mammootty's health and youthfulness is the home grown, pesticide-free food that he consumes," says K M Hilal, natural farming propagator, who introduced the actor to the concept of natural farming. "Mammootty was always interested in farming, but was intrigued by the idea of natural farming recently. He wanted the cultivation in his 17 acres of land to be natural, without using pesticides." Hilal adds that he admires Mammootty in that the actor takes care to study all aspects of agriculture and natural farming thoroughly. "His dedication is admirable. At home, he and his family uses only naturally grown products as far as possible."

In addition to the farmland in Kumarakom,Our offered BOPP Tapes are in compliance with the BOPP tape Products. Mammootty has now taken up the initiative to convert farm lands jointly owned by a group of his friends into a natural farm. And Mammootty is not the only one. If you visit actor/scriptwriter Sreenivasan's house in Kochi, you will be served a meal made entirely out of natural, home grown products. If you are lucky, you might even get some home grown vegetables as a parting gift. "Sreenivasan was always interested in farming but it's only recently that he actually starting his own farm," says his wife Vimala, adding that the very reason why the actor bought the house he lives in now is because he wanted land for cultivation. "Besides paddy, we grow our own vegetables too. In fact, there is nothing we don't grow here; we have ladies finger, long beans, drumstick and more. Sreenivasan too believes in natural farming, otherwise why grow them on your own? You can as well buy them from the market. Even the provisions used in the house are purely organic," Vimala adds.

Although Sreenivasan doesn't get the time to actually work on the farm and the vegetable garden himself, he is the one who gives instructions to the workers, she says, and adds, "When there is an excess of rice and vegetables, we give it away to anyone who visits us.
